Every event brings its own atmosphere, but Pon Nivalu 2026 at The Maya Suite in Sheffield was particularly special. The evening, which brought together Malaysian students studying in Sheffield, was a celebration of the city’s international students’ culture and heritage.
We had the pleasure of providing our mirror booth for the event, arriving well ahead of the celebrations to ensure everything was ready before students began filling the venue.

From the moment we arrived, there was already a sense of excitement among the organisers, who put the finishing touches on an evening dedicated to celebrating Malaysian culture.

Preparing for Pon Nivalu 2026
As with any event, preparation is key. We coordinated with the organisers and venue staff to ensure our setup complemented the evening’s schedule and did not interfere with performances, speeches, and dining arrangements.
The atmosphere inside the venue was brilliant, with beautifully dressed guests in traditional saris, and carefully arranged décor creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflected the significance of the occasion.
Finding the Perfect Position for the Photo Booth
One of the advantages of The Maya Suite is its adaptable layout and large floor space. As a popular venue for Sheffield photo booth hire, it was easy to find a highly visible area that encouraged guests to come over and take pictures while still allowing easy movement around the room.
Once the location was agreed, we assembled the mirror booth setup, including the mirror itself, strobe flash, printer, and props. We also put up one of our unique photography backdrops.

Before the event began, we completed our standard equipment checks, adjusted lighting, and tested the print quality to ensure every photo came out to our highest standards.

There was a wonderful sense of community throughout the night, with plenty of laughter, conversation, and shared memories being made.
